Duferco Refractories activity started during 1999 encouraged by the specific requirements of refractory products of the steel plants of the Group. The production of our refractory materials is made in China, the main and most competitive producer of a large number of raw materials for the refractory industry, in carefully selected plants, each of them specialised in a specific family of refractory products. All materials supplied have been severely tested in the steel plants of the group before making them available to the market allowing Duferco Refractories to understand in an extensive manner the properties and the performances of each product. Cooperation with a leading Chinese University specialized in ceramic and refractory material technology allows a continuous research on the existing and new materials. Duferco Refractories products are sourced from the same manufacturers since the beginning of its activity. It allowed the creation of extremely strong alliances which include capital participations and technical, financial and commercial agreements. These types of cooperation guarantee a production of materials with stable and homogeneous quality, one of the main requirement that steel producers make to the refractory industry. The Beijing office of Duferco Refractories includes several ceramic engineers in charge of the quality control of our products. They are seconded to the production plants and in direct relation with Lugano Head office. All Chinese plants are ISO 9001 certified similarly to Duferco Refractory business unit. Today Duferco Refractories offers a complete range of products satisfying the full requirement of the steel makers. It includes products for ladles, electric arc furnaces, converters, degassing units, torpedo cars and continuous casting machines. More specifically Duferco Refractories can produce resin bonded MgO-C and AMC bricks with standard and special shapes, MgO – Chrome fired bricks, AGS bricks, Alumina bricks, refractory plates for slide gate systems both ceramic and Carbon bonded, isostatic products as well as unshaped products. Several large steel making groups located in Russia, Ukraine, entire Europe, Egypt, Jordan, South Africa, USA, in several South America countries and in USA rely on our products on a regular basis. Since five years the products range was enlarged to the supply of silica and semi-silica bricks for the reparation of several coke plants around the world. More recently the activity has been expanded to the manufacturing of bricks for the cement industry the second market segment in terms of quantity for the refractory products. Some large cement producers groups have successfully tested our products and they are now requiring regular supply of materials.
